CAPTAINS:
TOURNAMENT PLAYING RULES:
Playing rules are
posted
at here. Please share this with
all your players, and be sure you know them!
I cannot stress this enough.
PLEASE
FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH THE RULES FOR YOUR DIVISION!
Since the games are self-refereed, please do what
you can to prevent any arguing or "flare-ups." If your team has a dispute, you
as captain should discuss it with the other captain, but more importantly,
please play honestly
and call your own teams infractions
(lift, net, etc). Also, if a dispute cannot be settled immediately, simply
re-play the point. There are always too many arguments over rules that players
thought they knew.
Please read all these rules before
the tournament.
Reminder: when a ball hits a tree, or there are people
outside the court in the way of playing the ball. If either of those occur
within 10 feet of the court, simply replay the point. You only have up to 10
feet of a playable free zone around a volleyball court to make the play on the
ball. You don’t get to run 50 yards to bring it back ;)
SCHEDULES:
It's going to be tough to keep all the teams on
schedule and actually finish before dark, so I need your help with the
following:
SECURITY & CHANGING of CLOTHES:
Non-Otis employees will
not be allowed into the Otis Service Center building. We will have portable
toilets available, but players should change their clothes prior to arrival.
NO SMOKING:
OSC is now a smoke free facility and property. Smoking
or use of any tobacco products anywhere on company property, including Otis
owned/leased parking lots and grassy areas, are prohibited. Essentially, this
means that individuals who smoke will need to walk or drive off the property.
Areas along Newberry Road are considered acceptable.
WAIVERS:
Please have your players
sign a waiver and bring it to the tournament. Please do not send them to me.
We'll collect these the day of the event.
There will be a drop-off box for these, but little time for all players to fill
them out the day of the tournament.
Please print the waiver here - There will
be very little time to do this the day of the tournament, so please have them
signed beforehand.
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION:
Division breakdown, team schedules and rules will be sent to the captain the week of the tournament.
WEATHER:
Please note that when it is not raining or cloudy, there
is limited shade from the sun, so please bring your own "pop-up" type tents /
canopies.
OSC RULES:
PRACTICE:
The volleyball nets will be
ready by 1:00. Feel free to come early for warm-ups/practice before the
tournament.
REFRESHMENTS & BBQ:
Your entry fee includes
refreshments. We will be serving Grilled chicken, hamburgers, hot-dogs, Chips,
soda, etc. There will be tossed salad along with veggie burgers for a vegetarian
fare. Captains will receive tickets for the refreshments upon check-in. Please
check the schedule to find out the time for your team to eat. For spectators, we
will be selling tickets for the BBQ for $5.
EQUIPMENT:
With so many teams, we may be
short of volleyballs today, so please bring your own if you have one. Also,
please don't take more than one ball for your team.
During the event, if you find the net on a particular
court is sagging or needs adjustment, please let the registration desk know and
we will correct it.
TEAM PHOTOS:
We will try our best to take
team photos. If you would like your team to be photographed for the web site,
check with the registration table.
Championship & Runners-Up TROPHIES FOR TOP TWO
TEAMS:
A Team
trophy and T-shirts for players will awarded to winners in each division. A team
trophy is also handed out for runners-up.
EVENT T-SHIRTS FOR SALE:
If we have any left, we will
be selling custom designed Volleyball T-shirts at the event.
