United Way Volleyball Tournament Results
The annual United Way/Combined Health Appeal Volleyball Tournament was held Friday, June 25th, at Otis Service Center. The event was a huge success raising $6,086; with Otis matching dollar-for-dollar, the tournament generated $12,172 for the United Way!
This year’s event drew an all-time high of 29 teams (207 players). The teams were divided into 3 leagues: 5 teams in the Competitive league; 17 in the Intermediate; 7 in the Recreational.

Winning the Competitive league for the 5th consecutive year was Safe Sets from Otis Service Center. Team members were: Frank (Chip) Dyer (captain), Dan Corbin, Mark Olthuis, Gary Colson, Amy Tittarelli and Rebeca Romero.
Winning the Intermediate league was Juracan from Pratt & Whitney East Hartford. Team members were: Lorna Rivera (captain), Gustavo Garcia, Samuel Velazquez, Eric Ramos, Alma Velazquez, Jason Himes, Lisa Wolf, Bianca Sanchez and Michael Abogado.
Winning the Recreational league was P&W Jets from Pratt & Whitney Middletown. Team members were: Chris Farkas (captain), Jim Blanchette, Jason Myers, Jill Piazza, Sandra Rathe and Jim Tarallo.
Teams were also awarded prizes for raising additional funds. Congratulations to the top 3 fundraising teams.
